Current and future services and activities of Father Ragan
Council
The service activities
described on the service page tell a little about what we do on a
regular basis. Periodically, special needs are identified and acted
upon. This page describes some past and future efforts for 2008.
A
benefit for five year
old Mitch Wilson was held at the Fr Ragan Hall. Mitchell Wilson
has a life threatening disease and is in need of a liver transplant.
This benefit spaghetti dinner was to help defray the many out of pocket
expenses.
Through the efforts of many volunteers over $4000.00 was raised.
Additional donations can be made at any National City Bank branch. Make
checks
payable to The Mitchell Wilson Fund.
Father Ragan Council teameed up with a group from the Rocky River School District to raise funds for the family of Derric Williams. Derric was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor that required many sacrifices by his family and many trips to St Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis Tennessee. With the parents and students from Rocky River providing auction items and baked goods, and Bubba's Q Restaurant providing food, the Knights were able to raise nearly $10,000.00 to help Derric and his family. The Knights are very grateful to the community for this overwhelming show of support.

The men of Father Ragan Council collected $5000.00 at area
churches and stores for support of local agencies providing support to
developmentally disabled children and adults. The effort was part of
the Ohio Knights of Columbus “Measure- Up” Campaign that contributes
nearly half a million dollars annually to the developmentally disabled.
The council donated nearly $1,000.00 to the Pennies for Heaven drive in
support of vocations. Over $73,000.00 was raised by Ohio Knights during
the past fraternal year to support men preparing for the priesthood in
Ohio’s diocesan seminaries.
The Council provided $7,000.00 in scholarships to area college students
with another $700.00 added to this total by the Ladies of the Isabella
Guild .
