Council business is demanding but need not be burdensome. Periodically, reports must be completed and forms must be filled out. This page provides a comprehensive listing of available documents. Most of the information on the page will be of little interest to visitors. Prospective members may gain additional insight into what we do.

Father Ragan Charitable FoundationMembers of Fr. Ragan Council 3269 Knights of Columbus founded
the Father Ragan Charitable Foundation in 1995. It is a non-profit
corporation of the State of Ohio and has tax-exempt status under IRS
Code 501 (c) 3. This means donations are deductable under IRS rules.
Since inception, the foundation has distributed over $750,000.00 to
area churches, schools and other charitable needs in the area. The
primary benefactors of this money are the four primary parishes that
comprise our council, including the churches, their schools and in the
case of Holy Spirit, the PSR program. Money is also used for
scholarships, Avon Lake High School K of C Wrestling Tournament and the
annual Knights of Columbus Senior's Dinner.
As a member of Father Ragan Council you are, by default, a voting
member of the Charitable Foundation. You are welcome to join in at the
meetings and discussion of how funds are distributed. Meetings are held
on the 2nd Thursday of the month and, if needed, on the 4th Thursday.
Both start at 7:30 pm in the hall's meeting room. All of the support
provided by the Foundation is the result of hard work by dedicated
volunteers using various fundraisers, the most important of which is
bingo. Currently, the Foundation operates two bingo nights weekly. Ohio
Pet Placement sponsors Wednesday while the Friday night bingo is
operated by the Foundation itself. In order to continue its charitable
mission the Foundation must continue to increase the number of
volunteers who help at bingo (our largest contributor of funds) and
increase hall rental income.
We have identified a number of repair and improvement needs for the
hall and its users.
To accomplish these ends and continue the benevolent work in our
community the Foundation is looking for volunteers to help in various
capacities. If you are able or if you know of someone who would like to
join in this highly rewarding group effort please contact Foundation
President Vic Sedivec at 440-748-9400 (home) 440-366-2442 (work) or
e-mail Vic.

As
the summer winds
down, our Council busy season is upon us. Last month we learned
that Fr Paschal Petcavage would be leaving our area. He has received
permission
to transfer from the Benedictine order to the Congregation of The
Fathers of St
Joseph. His service to our council and our 4th degree assembly over the
years
has earned him our respect, and our friendship. He will be greatly
missed. We
wish him well. Vivat
Jesus

Tools for Internet use
Many useful documents are available on the Internet and some require
special readers. For example, one may not be able to read a Microsoft
Word document if the program is not installed. The same is true of
other Microsoft Office documents and Adobe PDF files. Free readers can
be installed to view such documents. Here we list links for acquiring
the tools you may need.

The Internet is a wonderful resource but also has many unfortunate features of the Wild West in its heyday. Safe browsing includes protecting yourself from viruses and other malware such as spyware, etc. Our webmaster recommends two free effective tools for safe surfing. AVG is a popular free antivirus program. If you need added support get the paid version but in most cases the free version is totally adequate. Virus definition updates are made automatically, daily. SpyBot Search and Destroy is one of the best anti-spyware tools. The tool allows you to immunize your computer to prevent you from accidentally visiting malicious sites. You must initiate periodic updates manually. For a review of the problem, visit the folks at Bleeping Computer. Their tutorials on other matters may also be of interest.
Web browsing is especially enjoyable when your browser is functioning properly. The folks at Florida Gulf Coast University offer a safe tool for testing yours. Take the browser test.
